Revolusi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, YPAN dan Kabupaten Banyuwangi Perkuat Lingkungan Berbahasa Inggris di Sekolah
Banyuwangi, 14 November 2024 – The collaboration between the Yayasan Pendidikan Adiluhung Nusantara (YPAN), the Banyuwangi Regency Government, and the Association of All Indonesian Regency Governments (APKASI) has successfully launched the Mini English Camp titled “Ant System” for a select group of five schools in Banyuwangi. This four-day event, held from November 11 to 14, 2024, at the Aston Banyuwangi Hotel & Conference Center, aims to enhance teachers’ competencies in English instruction while fostering a conducive English learning environment for students.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Suratno, S.Pd, M.M., the Head of the Banyuwangi Education Office, who emphasized, “The introduction of the ‘Ant System’ method is expected to create a supportive ecosystem that motivates and encourages students to improve their English language skills in schools.”
Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Fais Bayu Wicaksono, Chairman of the YPAN Banyuwangi Branch, highlighted the significance of English proficiency in the global era. “English is a key to unlocking international opportunities. Therefore, through the ‘Ant System’, we aim to provide a creative, innovative, and easily applicable approach to English learning in schools,” he stated.
Ant System: Fostering Active English Usage in Schools
The “Ant System” method is an engaging approach to English language learning that emphasizes real-life and enjoyable contexts. Over the four days, participants engaged in various activities, including a Training of Trainers (TOT) session, where they learned to become English trainers using the “Ant System” to subsequently train other teachers at their respective schools. This was followed by a discussion of the Ant System Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), introducing participants to the protocols for implementing the method effectively. The program also included discussions on how to apply the “Ant System” in their schools, culminating in the development of action plans.
With the organization of the Mini English Camp “Ant System”, it is hoped that the quality of English education in Banyuwangi will see significant improvement. Teachers who have undergone this training are expected to serve as role models and inspire their colleagues to cultivate an English-speaking environment in their schools.
YPAN remains committed to enhancing the quality and equity of education in Indonesia through specialized training programs. By collaborating with various stakeholders, including local governments, YPAN aims to create a conducive learning ecosystem throughout the country, with the hope of nurturing a golden generation of Indonesians ready to face global challenges.
